What If?

On my return flight to Newark from Atlanta, I had an epiphany; I live in a daily state of fear. Before boarding the flight, a family wanted to switch seats so that they could sit together. So I gave up my beloved window seat for an aisle seat. It made me extremely uncomfortable to not be sitting next to the window, but I didn’t notice it until we were landing. I like to look out the window to see while the plane is landing. I wasn’t going to be able to see during this flight and it didn’t help that the person sitting next to the window had the shade closed.
When the plane started to descend, I started to panic. What if the plane wasn’t able to lane, what if we had to continue circling around the airport, I imagined terrible possibilities of what could happen. Having my daughter with

Ego Check

The truth is sometimes hard for us to swallow. We all say that we want truth, but the moment that we enter into a space to receive it, our feelings are hurt and our egos are bruised. Though we would like to believe that we can handle the truth, our egos would much rather accept a lie. In fact, the ego will go as far as fabricating and altering the truth to make it acceptable for us to process and receive it. Ego knows no truth.
The ego is an aspect of our cognitive process and manifests itself through our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is not a thing per se, but more of a mental state of being. It is manipulative, deceiving, and untrustworthy. The ego feels threatened and attacked when it does not or cannot have its’ way. It fights to be seen, heard, and feared. The ego believes

Deceitful Fear

Fear is one of the most deceiving feelings that exist in the spectrum of human emotions. While fear has played a major role in the evolution of the human race, triggering a response to physical harm and danger, it has evolved to include unrealistic threats of the mind. Fear is the natural response to the unknown and since we are not capable of knowing what the future holds, we are constantly in a state of fear. It never goes away.
As a result, we’ve allowed fear to become the controller of our lives, holding us back from our true growth, potential, and abundance. We’ve created excuses for ourselves about why we cannot accomplish the things that we ultimately want to do, masking our fears in lack of time, money, and resources. Fear is what holds you back from pursuing your dreams. Once you’ve come one fear, another arises, and then

Ordinary Courage

There is this side of me that is strong, brave, and
fearless. I admire this part of myself. I strive to walk in this space every day, but to be honest, most days I end up feeling cowardly, scared, and frightened. This part of me sneaks into my thoughts like a thief in
the night and reminds me of my fears; my fears of being judged, of failing, and
of not knowing what’s to come.
I recognize and acknowledge when my fears resurface because
they always do. Being courageous does not mean that our fears cease to exist.
It means that even in the presence of fear we still do what needs to be done. It’s okay to be scared, but we should not allow our fears to paralyze us. Fear
can be a healthy source of energy. We can use it as motivation to remain
steadfast on life’s journey.

It takes courage to know your purpose

Fear is a Liar.

“Some people look before they leap, others just leap.” ~Kris Marlene~
It is amazing how some people are just born fearless. It’s as if they can, and often will, do anything that gives them the slightest inclination of fear. They are spontaneous, adventurous, and dare-devils. They run towards the things that they fear in order to overcome them. While this may be true for some people, this is not the case for everyone. There are some of us that are not only fearful, but fear-filled.
We live in fear; fear of the unknown, fear of other people, and fear of ourselves. We box ourselves in and become paralyzed by fear. Fear prevents us from living a whole, an authentic life. It interrupts our decision-making and keeps us from experiencing life. It is time for us to step outside of our comfort zones and move forward pass our fears.
